Agent Technical Requirements

For each concurrent session, it is recommended that the following bandwidth is available. The figures below are guidelines for performance. Figures are equally applicable for both agent and customer:

Feature Minimum Required Bandwidth Each Way Recommended Required Bandwidth Each Way
Text-Chat 10kb/s 20kb/s
Cobrowse 50kb/s 100kb/s
Webcall - Voice 100kb/s 200kb/s
Webcall - Video 500kb/s 700kb/s

* ‘Each Way’ means the quoted figure is required for both upload and download rates.

** Assumes 2 way video. Each video stream (end-user to agent, or agent to end-user) is one-way, therefore offering 1 way video will reduce required bandwidth in that specific direction.

Quality of Service

Quality of Service (QoS) controls check for available bandwidth resource before offering communication options to the user. QoS ensures that end-users are not offered functionality that exceeds their available bandwidth, to avoid sub-optimal user experiences. Real time adaptive bitrate control optimises video quality to suit the available bandwidth.

Unsupported End Users

The Talkative QoS monitoring checks website visitors' bandwidth, browser and device type. If Talkative features are unavailable to end user website visitors, the functionality will either not be offered, or an alternative option will be shown. These options can be configured in the Talkative admin panel.
